2022 Best 22 – Port Adelaide Power

Gee the Power have to be mighty close to a Grand Final this year and even a flag! In saying that, they will need a bit of luck with injuries and for their older guys to remain healthy and in-form. Let’s hope Kenny can get the boys a flag and we can petition for Heff to get a Hinkley tattoo at season’s end.

Port Adelaide Power Best 22

The Power’s back six looks nice and settled and mighty strong. Word on the street is that new recruit Sam Skinner is training the house down and will be right to fill any key position back there should an injury arise. Riley Bonner can jump on a back flank off the bench to provide more drive while Lachie Jones is another who is enjoying a good pre-season but we may have to wait a bit longer to see him as a regular feature in the starting side.

Karl Amon and Xavier Duursma will provide plenty of run on the wings for the Power, as will Miles Berman who had a sensational 2021 which he will look to build on this year.

The forward line is where we currently run into a few issues with Charlie Dixon and Orazio Fantastia under some nasty injury clouds. Apparently Dixon will be close for Round 1 but if not, the recruitment of Jeremy Finlayson is looking like a masterstroke now. Todd Marshall will come into that side should Dixon miss early on to help Finlayson and Georgiades up forward. Steve Motlop would be a certain starter if Fantasia does miss and that would mean we’ll likely see Sam Powell-Pepper return to the starting 22. He was solid as the sub late last year and hopefully can deliver on some of his talent that he possesses.

Draftee Josh Sinn has plenty of Power fans excited but I find it hard to see him play too many matches this season while the Power are well and truly hunting that flag. Trent Dumont, Sam Mayes and Tom Clurey all have plenty of experience and can slot into that side to play a role if needed.
