The AFL Draft is done and dusted, so let’s check out some of their AFL Fantasy scores in 2022.
As expected, Will Ashcroft ended up at Brisbane as a father-son pick. He is the clear standout in this year’s draft. In 2022, he played 14 games for Sandringham Dragons in the NAB League for an average of 117.9 points. His top scores were 149 against Western Jets and 138 against Northern Knights. He also played 3 VFL games for an average of 116.3 with scores of 116, 122, and 111.
Harry Sheezel is a player that has generated a lot of interest, given that he’s a player who could start in the forward line for the AFL Fantasy Classic format. He is one of the more naturally skilled footballers in this year’s draft who is a proven goalkicker with exceptional foot skills. His scoring fluctuated but some of his ceiling games were remarkable For example, he had one game where he racked up 37 disposals playing in the midfield, putting up a score of 159. He also had a 6-goal haul against Tasmania Devils to score 137 points. He averaged 88.5 AFL Fantasy points in 2022, which is pretty good for a forward.
Elijah Tsatas ended up heading to Essendon at pick 5. The outside midfielder missed a lot of 2022 with a foot injury, but when he played he put up some big fantasy numbers. He started the year well averaging 112 points throughout the first four rounds of the season before injury struck. He returned for one game in round 16 against Sandringham where he scored 115 points on the back of 38 disposals.
Another underage AFL Fantasy gun was Jhye Clark who ended up at Geelong. Clark was a consistent performer last season. He put up six scores of 100+ in 2022, his best game being 130 AFL Fantasy points in the NAB League Wildcard game, racking up 21 kicks, 6 handballs, 8 marks, and 6 tackles. It might be tough to get a game at Geelong initially, but he’s one to watch for the future.
