As the Brisbane Lions prepare for the 2025 AFL season, several players emerge as potential undervalued assets, breakout candidates, and strategic stash options for fantasy enthusiasts. From seasoned players to promising rookies, here’s a comprehensive look at the players to watch for your keeper league teams.
Undervalued Players
Cam Rayner
Cam Rayner is a name we discuss every year, but he truly began to put it together last season. He even earned 2G4P status with a four-week stretch of scoring 80+ AFL fantasy points. This year could be the one where he consistently puts up reasonable fantasy scores. While we’re not expecting anything monumental, Rayner could average 75+ points as a forward, which is valuable given the scarcity of forwards, as we saw last season. The midfield mix becomes a bit more uncertain with Levi Ashcroft joining the Lions, but Rayner is now a senior player and seems ready to take the next step.
Keidean Coleman
You can basically just see what we wrote about him last year. 2024 was anticipated to be his breakout year, but an ACL injury during the first game of the season set him back. Dayne Zorko’s successful deployment in the half-back role last season shows the potential of that position, and Coleman is expected to take on that role this season. He’s not a defensive type, so he’ll be accumulating a lot of cheap kicks, making him a solid pick for fantasy teams.
Breakout Candidates
Darcy Wilmot
Darcy Wilmot showed significant signs of improvement last year, averaging a respectable 75 points. He could easily average and extra 5 points per game push his average closer to 80 points in 2025, especially as Dane Zorko may have a less prominent role in the half-back line.
Jaspa Fletcher
As a winger, Jaspa Fletcher might not always deliver the highest fantasy scores, but his talent, endurance, and skills make him a promising player. Wingers like Jarrod Berry have scored well for Brisbane in a wing role, and Fletcher could follow suit. While not expected to have huge ceiling scores, Fletcher could be a reliable option for fantasy teams.
Kai Lohmann
Kai Lohmann may not ever be a top-tier scorer, but his forward flair allows him to occasionally post good numbers. As a crafty forward who consistently finds the goals, Lohmann can produce solid scores, especially on days when he kicks a bag. Given the scarcity of forwards, he’s a worthwhile consideration for fantasy teams.
Stash Options
Deven Robertson
Deven Robertson has shown fantasy potential through his underage numbers and VFL form in the past but has always struggled to secure a spot in Brisbane’s best 22. He’s included here as a stash option, anticipating a possible trade at the end of the season.
Rookie Watch
Levi Ashcroft
Levi Ashcroft should match the performance of his brother, but concerns remain about how he fits within the current Brisbane midfield. For more information, check out our draft fantasy analysis guide here.
