CBAs Analysis: Round 14, 2025- AFL Fantasy

See who the winners and losers were in the CBAs over the weekend.

In AFL Fantasy, Centre Bounce Attendances (CBAs) are one of the most valuable indicators of a player’s role and scoring potential. Each week, changes in CBAs can signal role shifts, coaching adjustments, or evolving team strategies—all of which are crucial for fantasy coaches looking to stay ahead of the game. Each week, I’ll be selecting five key players whose midfield involvement is worth highlighting. For a more detailed breakdown of all the biggest movers, members can access our CBA analysis data tools here.

Harry Rowston

Harry Rowston had the biggest CBA increase of the weekend, attending 62% of GWS’s centre bounces after recording zero in his last game. He finished with a score of 75 AFL Fantasy points, but it looked like he was on track for much more early in the match before slowing down in the second half. With Toby Greene out of the side and Brent Daniels going down early, Rowston likely benefited from increased midfield rotations.

Zach Merrett

Zach Merrett spent a lot more time in the midfield against Geelong, which would be pleasing for his Fantasy coaches. Unfortunately, it didn’t result in a massive score as he managed just 94 points in a game where Geelong completely dominated Essendon. While this might be a one-off due to the nature of the match, Merrett has struggled to score recently often attracting tags or shutdown roles. If he stays in the midfield consistently, there’s hope his scoring will improve again, and this game may be a sign that Essendon plans to keep him there.

Sam Berry

Sam Berry moved into the midfield to cover for James Peatling, who missed due to suspension. Berry scored just 58 points, but it was a tough game for AFL Fantasy scoring overall. This shift suggests he’s next in line for midfield minutes if another Crows mid is unavailable, but once Peatling returns—and later, Matt Crouch—Berry is likely to drop out of that rotation (and perhaps even drop out of the team).

Dylan Moore

With James Worpel injured, Hawthorn brought in Henry Hustwaite as the replacement, but he had little impact and was subbed out at halftime. Instead, the Hawks turned to Dylan Moore to shoulder more midfield responsibility, and it paid off from a Fantasy perspective. Moore finished with 122 points and attended 33% of centre bounces. It was a low-scoring game overall, so there weren’t many CBAs to go around, but the key takeaway is that if Hawthorn face further midfield injuries, Moore is likely to be used more heavily on the inside again.

Josh Ward

Josh Ward had one of the biggest CBA drops of the round, with a 44% decrease compared to his last game. Interestingly, it didn’t hurt his Fantasy output too much—he still scored 82 points. He mostly started on the wing and rolled into stoppages from there, playing a fairly similar role overall. That should give coaches confidence that he can still score well, even without heavy inside midfield minutes.
