CBAs Analysis: Round 22, 2022 – AFL Fantasy

See who the winners and losers were in the CBAs over the weekend.

CBAs – Centre Bounce Attendances – is a statistic that measures the number of times a player is present at a centre bounce at the beginning of a quarter or following a goal. A player that has a high attendance rate at CBAs is around the footy more and (in some cases) in a more fantasy-friendly midfield role.

Analyse the CBAs from the football weekend in our user-friendly tables in our premium resources section – featuring advanced analytical tools to better measure the most significant changes, seasonally and week-to-week.

Below, see who some of the winners and losers were from a CBA perspective over the weekend.

Angus Brayshaw

Three weeks ago Angus Brayshaw went to the first bounce against Fremantle and lined up on his brother Andrew.

At the time, I thought this may have just been a little gimmick but it has continued over the last few rounds.

He has averaged a centre bounce attendance rate of 62.3% over the past three weeks, which is the biggest increase out of every player in the competition. To put this jump into perspective, this is 53.4% ahead of his season average.

Seeing as he attained defender status this season, owners would be loving life right now. Hopefully, he keeps it for next season, remains in the midfield and racks up big scores.

Harry Perryman

I haven’t had a chance to watch Perryman over the past few weeks, but apparently, Perryman has recently been employed as a tagger over.

This means his centre bounce attendance numbers have gone through the roof.

Last week he went to 90% of the centre bounces and has a three-round average of 75%. As a result, his fantasy scoring has gone up, averaging 94.6 points in his last three games.

Coming up against Fremantle this week, there’s a good chance he goes to Andrew Brayshaw and follows him around for the day. This should lead him to the footy and hopefully earn some fantasy points as a result.

Mark Blicavs

With Rhys Stanley injuring his knee against Gold Coast, Mark Blicavs jumped into the number one ruck role.

He went to 80% of the centre bounces on the weekend, which was 36.9% above his season average. As a result, he put up an AFL Fantasy score of 120.

Over the past few weeks, Blicavs’ scoring has dropped as he’s been removed from the number one ruck role, with Rhys Stanley (and sometimes Jonothan Ceglar) in the side.

If Ceglar remains out this weekend, Blicavs should hold the number one ruck spot and put up a big score, considering that West Coast has been one of the easiest teams to score against for rucks.

This could be a dream matchup for your keeper league grand final.

Will Setterfield

Usually, Will Setterfield is deployed as a wingman, but on Saturday night he went into the midfield to do a tagging job on Clayton Oliver.

As we’ve seen with many makeshift taggers this year, Will Setterfield put up a good fantasy score as a result.

He went to 79% of the centre bounces for Carlton and scored 99 AFL Fantasy points.

With Kennedy and Hewett out for the season, and doubt surrounding Adam Cerra, we could see Setterfield remain in the midfield to do this tagging role which could lead to another good fantasy score in your keeper league grand final.

It’d be bold to start him on the field, but he might be a good option as a streamer if you’re desperate.
