North Melbourne Kangaroos – AFL Fantasy Analysis 2025

North Melbourne are a pretty young side, and we know all about their young stars already. But there are a few names that haven’t broken out yet or undervalued players in their side that could be useful to your keeper league teams. Read on to find out who.

Breakout Candidates

George Wardlaw

This guy looks like he’s going to be an absolute beast for North Melbourne in their midfield. He’s a contested ball winner and one of those in-and-under types that should put up good numbers each week. I’m just a little concerned about his ceiling given the role he’s likely to play and the quality of players he’s going to have around him. McKercher and Sheezel are accumulators, and LDU holds his own from a fantasy perspective, so I’m not sure of the point share for North Melbourne. The other concern is his injury history—he’s already injured this preseason with a hamstring. Nonetheless, in keeper leagues, he should be a future star so pick him up.

Undervalued Players

Tom Powell

This guy looked last year like he was going to have a breakout so big he’d burst through the ceiling. But just after he was starting to find more midfield time, he reverted back to more of a forward role. Then, he was shuffled around in other roles throughout the year. The big positive news, though, is that he’s training across halfback, which is a position he scored well in during the latter stages of last season. There will be a few scorers on the halfback line for North Melbourne, but we’ve seen multiple players score well there in the past. Just look at McKercher, Sheezel, and Fisher last year—all put up respectable averages in the same side, so I have no concerns there. If he has the halfback role, I’m willing to back him in.

Caleb Daniel

I think this guy’s going to go very early in a lot of single-season drafts. And for keeper leagues, he’s not a bad option either, despite being 28 years old. Clarko has been saying all preseason that he will be running free off the halfback this season, racking up the footy and being their main distributor. Looking at training reports, there’s nothing to doubt this so far. So I’m happy to lock him in. Given his forward status, he’s going to be a very valuable player this season. He’s potentially going to be valuable into the future if the role holds off the halfback line.

Stash Options

Zane Duursma

The only reason I’ve got Zane Duursma here is for his underage scoring power. However, in the Talent League, he was starting on the wing most of the time and then joining the midfield attack at stoppages from there—a role he’s unlikely to have at AFL level. He’s most likely going to be a small forward, but he’s still worth stashing just in case any role changes eventuate in the future. However, I’m not holding on to too much hope that he is going to be a gun fantasy scorer.

Josh Goater

We’re still holding on to hope that this guy turns into a fantasy player on the back of his debut performance a couple of seasons ago. He’s had a lot of injury niggles since then and found it hard to stay on the park. I also think now he’s behind a few players on the halfback line, which is the role he’s going to need to score well in fantasy. He probably needs a season or two to earn his place in the side, so I can’t see him having too much impact from a fantasy point of view just yet. But he’s definitely one to stash for the future just in case.

Senior Players

Luke Parker

If you read all the player comments about Luke Parker, they are seriously impressed with this guy. The leadership and tenacity he provides to this playing group is going to be huge for them in 2025. I think he’ll play a forward-midfielder role, which will limit his ceiling, but I think it’ll be a similar role to what we saw Tom Powell play last year. I think he’ll average anywhere between 75 and 85 in 2025, and with his forward status, that’s going to be a pretty handy number for your team—especially if you’re contending and don’t mind about his age.

Rookie Watch

Finn O’Sullivan

O’Sullivan is the best rookie prospect for North Melbourne this season. Although his underage numbers aren’t fantastic, it’s largely due to his injury history at underage level. To read more about it, check out our draftee podcast or our draftee analysis guide.
