Port Adelaide Power – AFL Fantasy Analysis 2025

With Dan Houston departing Port Adelaide for Collingwood, there’s now a significant hole in the Power’s defense from a fantasy perspective. There’s a lot of intrigue around who will take on his role or whether it will be a collective effort to cover his absence. Additionally, there are rumours of a new-look game plan, which could alter how Port Adelaide players score in fantasy. This makes 2025 an intriguing year for Port players, with several names worth watching.

Breakout Candidates

Jase Burgoyne

Averaged 76.5 last season (excluding finals), but it was a tale of two halves. In the first half of the season, he averaged 71.1, while in the second half, his average skyrocketed to 92.6. While he has lost his defender status, which somewhat reduces his value, he played on the wing for most of last season and still managed that strong second-half output. He may not ever be a 100+ average player, but he has the potential to settle around 90 when he hits his prime. His ability to get into space and accumulate uncontested marks makes him a reliable scorer. The only concern is whether Port Adelaide’s game plan will shift in a way that doesn’t favour him, but that remains to be seen.

Miles Bergman

Bergman is one of the many names linked to picking up Dan Houston’s fantasy production. Last season saw him shift from a wing to a half-back role, which appears to be a better fit for his fantasy output. While he does have to play defensive roles, his height allows him to take intercept marks, and he’s trusted with the ball due to his solid foot skills. While he may not have a huge ceiling, an 80+ average is certainly within reach.

Logan Evans

Evans looks set to benefit from Dan Houston’s departure. It’s a promising sign that he was drafted in the mid-season draft and quickly became a regular in the side. His 69.6 average might not seem impressive, but he put up a few solid fantasy scores in those games. He should only improve in 2025, and an average in the 70-75 range this season seems achievable as he trends upwards, with the potential to push even higher in future seasons.

Josh Sinn

Sinn has been widely discussed as a potential Houston replacement, particularly after his strong fantasy performances in last year’s finals. However, as a Port Adelaide supporter, I believe that was more out of necessity due to a lack of options and with a fully fit side, I’m not sure Sinn is in Port’s best 22. While he has fantasy potential, I’m not convinced he will play consistently enough to be a reliable pick.

Undervalued Players

Kane Farrell

Farrell is arguably the biggest beneficiary of Dan Houston’s departure. As Port’s best ball user coming out of defence, he should see plenty of it on the rebound. If Port adopts a more slingshot-style game plan, as rumoured, Farrell will be one of the key drivers from half-back, which could lead to a scoring boost. Also, with Houston gone, he should see a bump in kick-in numbers, which should provide an additional boost to his scoring.

Jackson Mead

Mead could see a slight scoring increase, particularly with the news of Willem Drew’s foot injury which would allow him to spend more time in the midfield. While he may not be a massive scorer, he could push into the 70s, which makes him a handy option, especially with forward status.

Rory Atkins

Atkins may not be a regular in Port’s best 22, but he should get opportunities at some stage. Given Ken Hinkley’s tendency to back in his acquisitions, Atkins may be given chances to justify his spot. Historically, he has been a solid fantasy scorer when on the park, so he could be a useful late-round pick for streaming when named.

Dylan Williams

Williams was one of the top rookie selections in AFL Fantasy Classic a couple of seasons ago and posted solid numbers in 2023. Injuries derailed his campaign last year, limiting his game time. However, according to Jordan Sweet, who recently appeared on our podcast, Williams has been the most improved player on the track this pre-season. That makes him a player to watch in 2025.

Rookie Watch

Joe Berry

Initially, I wasn’t convinced of Berry’s fantasy potential, but as the pre-season has progressed, his stock has risen. Some have compared him to Dylan Moore, and he is now expected to play early games for Port Adelaide.
