Round 10: Captains and Streamers

Each week we use our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to find some of the best captain options for your sides.

There are always some very obvious captain options, but we’ll try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. If you have the Uber premiums, then please don’t take this article as advice not to put the Captaincy on them.

For the streamer options, I’ll look at some players who perform well historically against their opponents that may not be automatic selections in your side.

Captains

Brad Crouch has only played the Crows once since making the switch to St Kilda for a 121 point return. Crouch is on track for a career-best season and has gone at 106 from his last three games.

Dayne Zorko enjoys playing against Hawthorn averaging 102 against them over his career. He is in a rich vein of form, averaging 116 from his last three outings.

Marcus Bontempelli returned to form last week with a season-high 119 points which coincided with an increase in his CBA’s. Bontempelli averages 98 against the Gold Coast Suns and had scores of 135 and 105 on them in 2021.

Darcy Parish owners will surely remember his mammoth 160 points against Richmond in Round 12 last season. The Tigers give up the second most points to midfielders and Parish has 6 scores of 100+ already this season.

Tim Taranto is another ‘Stream against West Coast Eagles’ captain option this week. Taranto is sitting on an average of 100 and scored 112 against the Eagles in 2021. Could a new coach spell more midfield minutes for Tim? Fingers crossed.

Vice-Captain

Jake Lloyd averages a healthy 90 points against Carlton and scored 104 against them in Round 11 of 2021. Lloyd has returned to form coming off back-to-back 100+ scores.

Sam Docherty just keeps pilling on big scores averaging 110 from his last three games. Docherty has an average of 90 versus the Swans, though he only scored 82 last time they matched up.

Mitch Duncan averages 92 against Port Adelaide and scored 100+ against them twice in season 2021. The last of those two scores was 135 in the Qualifying Final.

Sam Walsh is an absolute VC gift this weekend as he averages a remarkable 105 against the Sydney Swans. Walsh has played the Swans four times and never scored below 100.

Streamers

Sam Taylor comes up against the West Coast Eagles this weekend, a team he scored 100 points on in Round 10 last year.

Lachie Ash is another Greater Western Sydney player who put up a solid 94 on the Eagles last season. He is a watch for potential role change post Leon Cameron.

James Jordan has been solid all season and is coming off a 95 against West Coast. This week he plays North Melbourne whom he scored 91 against in Round 8 last season.

Josh P. Kennedy has had a career-worst AFL Fantasy season which is substantially due to a role change and a few sub vests. James Rowbottom has copped a 1-week suspension which should result in a bump in CBA’s.

Jack Silvagni is a forward who continues to put up respectable 70+ scores, spending some time in the ruck with Pittonet missing. He is a Friday night loop option and scored 73 on the Swans in Round 11 last season.
