Round 15, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Brody Grundy is back in All-Australian form and should absolutely monster Kieran Briggs in the ruck this week. Grundy has averaged 134 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Greater Western Sydney.

Jordon Clark is in a rich vein of form, averaging 125 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games, he pumped out 128 in his last game at Optus Stadium as well.

If he is declared fit, then I am really keen on Liam Duggan this week against Essendon. Duggan is West Coasts best ball user and has averaged 111 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Essendon.

Josh Kelly was superb last week but didn’t get the score to truly represent how well he played. Kelly is averaging 100 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and will get up for the Battle of the Bridge.

The injury to Christian Petracca could see a real bump for Christian Salem this week. He has mixed his time between Mid and Half Back averaging 105 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three.

Vice-Captain

Blake Acres has averaged 108 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Geelong; his fitness base has seen him run an old Geelong midfield off its feet.

Max Holmes has seen an increase in his midfield usage of late and is going at 104 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games.

Zak Butters does not have two bad games in a row; escaping suspension I back him to score over 100 AFL Fantasy Points this week against Brisbane.

Harry McKay is a risky option against Geelong, however he had as day out last time they met scoring 117 AFL Fantasy Points.

Hugh McCluggage has struggled against Port Adelaide in recent years; but fresh off 132 AFL Fantasy Points I’m keen to look at him as a loop.

Streamers

Tom Sparrow scoring has been a real disappointment this season; but with Petracca injured and a game against North Melbourne I expect a nice bump in scoring this week.

Another Melbourne player I am looking at this week is Kysaiah Pickett. He saw a huge bump in Centre Bounces last week and that may continue with Petracca missing.

Jacob Weitering notched up 107 AFL Fantasy Points last time he matched up on Tom Hawkins; I think the geelong forward has slowed up and Jacob will rack up a lot of intercepts this week.

Melbourne can give up a lot of cheap ball to defenders; If named this could open up a big score for Colby McKercher this week after an extended lay off.

Tom Barrass had 83 AFL Fantasy Points the last time he played Essendon and has been averaging 78 at Optus Stadium.
