Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.
While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.
In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.
Captains
Hugh McCLuggage has the inside, outside mix that has him built for Optus Stadium. In addition, ‘The Suitcase’ has averaged 107 from his last three against the West Coast Eagles.
Tim Taranto will continue to make my weekly article until his average gets too high! He is going at 107 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five and comes up against his old team.
Rory Laird has had a return to form averaging 101 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and an increase to his Centre Bounce Attendances.
Tim English bounced back to his ceiling with 131 AFL Fantasy Points last week; He’ll repeat that this week as he comes up against either a banged-up Tom De Konig or a lumbering Pittonet.
Tom Green is going to absolutely slaughter Richmond this weekend, it is genuinely hard to see a world where he doesn’t score over 110 AFL Fantasy Points.
Vice-Captain
Darcy Cameron presents as a high risk, high reward option considering the injury cloud over him. Geelong don’t play a recognised Ruck and Cameron has averaged 105 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against them.
Andrew Brayshaw is fresh off 146 AFL Fantasy Points and is up against Hawthorn in an early Saturday game; Brayshaw is averaging a whopping 144 from his last three against the Hawks.
With a ‘yet again’ injury to Sean Darcy, we will get a one week burst of Luke Jackson as the number one ruck. He will outwork Loyd Meek around the ground and is a real VC smoky this week.
Chad Warner will step up in the potential absence of Isaac Heeney, in fact even if Heeney is named, I can see Chad going big against North Melbourne.
For North Melbourne to win Luke Davies-Uniacke needs to have a big game against Sydney’s engine room. He scored 111 AFL Fantasy points in their previous matchup, but a Jordon tag is likely here.
Streamers
Callan Ward is averaging 102 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and has shown he can collect the pill as an outside mid. Furthermore, he’s averaged 105 from his recent matches against Richmond.
Another GWS comeback kid should fill his boots this week, I’m talking about Isaac Cumming. Fresh off 99 AFL Fantasy Points and the easy Tigers kill.
Harris Andrews is a defender I would field this week, coming up against the West Coast Eagles whom he scored 99 AFL Fantasy Points against in their last matchup.
Ed Langdon has averaged 97 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Essendon and is going at 76 from his last three games.
Harry Perryman rarely has to bad games in row; the Fantasy friendly match up against Richmond is reason enough for me to start him this week.
