Round 19, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Toby Nankervis is going to absolutely monster Jordon Sweet this weekend. Nank is averaging 118 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and is carrying Richmond at the moment.

Connor Rozee has been the subject of a bit of ‘media commentary’ this week. He has averaged 118 AFL Fantasy Points against Richmond of late and I expect him to come out and put up a 120.

Andrew Brayshaw has really become the forgotten man at Fremantle as he quietly just goes about his business. He has averaged 112 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Melbourne and plays them on his home deck.

Harry McKay has averaged 116 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against North Melbourne. I expect Norths newfound defensive pressure is going to be put to the sword this week.

Luke Ryan dines out when he plays Melbourne, and the return of Alex Pearce will see him return to his plumb role. Ryan scored a whopping 142 AFL Fantasy Points the last time these two met.

Vice-Captain

Jye Caldwell is on an absolute tear at the moment averaging 123 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games.

Tom Green is another Mid who is in ripping form averaging 110 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and racking up insane amounts of the ball with consistency.

Coming up against the worst team in the league on his home deck should see Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera have a stack of the pill.

Jordon Dawson has averaged 122 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Essendon including a score of 155 in their last match up.

Although his recent form has been poor, I’m picking a bit of a VC smoky this week in Matt Rowell. No Touk, Davies missing and finals on the line I think this Bull will come out Bucking.

Streamers

Alex Witherden should see a points bump this week in the absence of both Duggan and McGovern. Witherden took kick in duties directly after Duggan was substituted from the game last week.

This is purely a ‘gut instinct’ call; but I feel this away game at GMHBA against Geelong will be the week Ryley Sanders announces himself as a competitive point scoring bull.

John Noble is fresh off a 102 AFL Fantasy Point game, and he has averaged 105 from his last three games at the MCG.

Callum Wilkie has had a real fall from grace this season; However, he scored 129 AFL Fantasy Points the last time he played at Optus Stadium and 87 the last time he played the Eagles.

George Hewett should walk straight back into that Carlton midfield this week; He scored 107 AFL Fantasy Points the last time he played North Melbourne so if named, play him.
