Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.
While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.
In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.
Captains
Andrew Brayshaw is back to his high scoring best at the moment averaging 113 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games. Brayshaw could absolutely monster West Coast on the weekend.
Melbourne’s midfield got knocked around last week which has me back on Tom Green as a Captain option this week. Green had 108 AFL Fantasy Points the last time he met Melbourne.
Nick Daicos at the MCG up against the dilapidated Richmond just screams Captain! I am not even bothering with the numbers, if you own him, you Captain him this week.
Lachie Neale is back to his Brwnlow winning best form averaging 115 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games. In addition, he pumped at 137 in the last Q-Clash!
Darcy Cameron comes up against a Richmond team without Toby Nankervis or Sam Naismith. I think he is a safe Captain option this week who could go bang.
Vice-Captain
Patrick Cripps is averaging 115 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and presents as a cracking early VC option.
Dan Houston has averaged 114 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against Carlton and has shown a high ceiling this season.
With his recent move into the midfield Tom Stewart has averaged 110 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and 95 in his last three against North Melbourne.
Luke Davies-Uniacke has averaged 118 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Geelong and could really monster the slow Geelong mids.
Coming off an absolute stinker last week I have my eye on a huge Jeremy Cameron bounce back. Cameron has averaged a monstrous 128 AFL Fantasy Points against the Roo’s in recent times.
Streamers
Will Ashcroft is a few games into his AFL return and in his only game against the Gold Coast Suns he scored 127 AFL Fantasy Points.
Massimo D’Ambrosio comes up against the Adelaide Crows this week, whom he scored 86 AFL Fantasy Points against last time they met.
Sam Switkowski has a great record against the West Coast Eagles averaging 79 AFL Fantasy Points in his last three Derby’s.
Richmond have been giving away points all over the ground which makes Brayden Maynard a sneaky ceiling option this week against the Tigers.
Tanner Bruhn is another who has had a lengthy injury layoff but, in his return, VFL game last weekend he amassed 35 disposals and a goal for 132 AFL Fantasy Points.
