Round 20: Captains and Streamers

Each week we use our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to find some of the best captain options for your sides.

There are always some obvious captain options, but we’ll try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. If you have the Uber premiums, then please don’t take this article as advice not to put the Captaincy on them.

For the streamer options, I’ll look at some players who perform well historically against their opponents that may not be automatic selections in your side.

Captains

Patrick Cripps averages 100 against the Adelaide Crows and had an impressive 130 against them earlier this season. With Hewett missing I expect Cripps to play predominately in the middle.

Luke Parker is averaging 105 from his last three games and loves the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ scoring 119 against Greater Western Sydney earlier this season.

Brad Crouch just loves playing Hawthorn averaging 103 points against them, which includes the 118 he had against them in Round 4 this year.

Hugh McCluggage is averaging 119 from his last five games and has had four scores of 120+ this season. Richmond is one of the easier teams to score against and Hugh had 107 against them when they met last year.

Noah Anderson is averaging 116 points from his last three games coming off a 109 last week. Anderson also has the dream match-up against the West Coast Eagles.

Vice-Captain

Hayden Young is in ripping form coming off a career-best 132 points on the weekend. He has the best defender match-up against Melbourne this Friday making him a great VC loophole option.

Angus Brayshaw is another defender VC loophole option for this Friday night. Brayshaw notched up 126 last round and had 100 against Fremantle in Round 11.

Nick Daicos is averaging 106 points from his last three games with a season average of 89. The early Saturday game against Port Adelaide makes Daicos a sneaky loophole option this week.

Ollie Wines hasn’t been able to reach the heights of his 2021 campaign but he is still going at an average of 94 this season. Wines averages 94 against Collingwood and had 100 against them last season.

Jack Crisp is hard to ignore this round given that he pumped out 141 points against Port Adelaide when they last met. He has only averaged 84 from his last five games so owners will be expecting a lift.

Streamers

Brennan Cox is averaging 74 from his last three games and was able to put up a 96 against the Melbourne Demons in Round 11.

Hunter Clark averages 75 against Hawthorn and put up 113 against them in Round 7 last season.

Will Setterfield averages 91 against the Adelaide Crows, scored 93 against them way back in season 2020 and is coming off a score of 101 last week.

Zac Fisher is another Carlton player in some good form averaging 88 from his last five games. Fisher has had three 100+ scores this season, one of which was against Adelaide in Round 8.

Blake Hardwick had a fantasy game last season averaging 81 and looks to have recaptured it, going at an average of 97 from his last three games which included a 124 in Round 17.
