Round 21: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Coming up against his old team, I am backing Lachie Neale to bounce back after last week’s demolition. Neale has averaged 120 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Fremantle.

Jack Steele has averaged 118 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and is well and truly back to ‘Man of Steele’ status.

Hugh McCluggage has directly benefited from the recent injury to Ashcroft, with a bump in his centre-bounce attendance numbers. Hugh is averaging 109 AFL Fantast Points from his last five games.

The Pies have always been a happy hunting ground for James Sicily, he has averaged 117 AFL Fantasy Points against them in recent times.

Matt Rowell feels like a very bold call, and I am nervous even suggesting it. But he is having a career-best season and he has averaged 104 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Adelaide.

Vice-Captain

Tom Liberatore is like a fine wine as he continues to improve with age. Libba is averaging 116 AFL fantasy Points from his last three games and is an amazing VC Loop option.

Toby Nankervis is set to return this week and will come out like a bull at a gate. Nank has averaged 97 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Western Bulldogs.

Adam Treloar is always a risky option to put the Captaincy on, we all have the ‘Salmon dance’ in mind when we see him stream up a wing. However, with a Friday game coaches can ease that fear and VC him.

Liam Duggan had 140 AFL Fantasy Points against Essendon when they last met and has averaged 106 from his last three against them.

I’d like to recommend another half-back flanker, I’m talking Mason Redman. With Ridley missing Redman is leading the kick-ins and scored 125 AFL Fantasy Points on West Coast previously.

Streamers

Tom Sparrow should return this week for the dream North Melbourne match-up. Sparrow has averaged 87 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Roos.

Jamie Cripps has a really good record at Marvel and against Essendon. Cripps notched up 93 AFL Fantasy Points on the Dons last time they met.

Harris Andrews dined out on Fremantle when they last played, scoring 93 AFL Fantasy Points. With the Sunday last game, he is a guy you can start and loop off if a better score comes along.

Recent injuries at Port Adelaide mean owners can field Ryan Burton in defence. Whilst he has struggled of late, he has averaged 76 AFL Fantasy Points against Geelong from his last three.
