Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.
While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.
In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.
Captains
Josh Kelly has averaged 124 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Western Bulldogs and 115 from his last three games at MARS; lock him in!
With a healthy 109 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Hawks, I am putting the Captain on Luke Davies-Uniacke this week. If you believe the rumours, he’ll be looking to pump up his trade value.
Nic Newman had 139 AFL Fantasy Points against St Kilda last time these two teams played, and Newman is a junk time specialist!
Andrew Brayshaw is averaging 110 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games, and I think the captain will step up to get his side into AFL Finals against Port Adelaide.
Jack Sinclair has averaged an outrageous 116 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games at Marvel and 105 in his last three against Carlton.
Vice-Captain
Noah Anderson makes the article again this week with an early game against Richmond. Anderson has averaged 124 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Tigers.
Tom Stewart has averaged 118 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games at GMHBA and should smash the Eagles.
Coming up against a Melbourne team that has fallen off a cliff has me very keen on Nick Daicos this week. Fresh off 116 AFL Fantasy Points I expect Daicos to finish the season on a high.
Tim Taranto will be auditioning for the Captaincy this week and he owes the Tigers a big score. His record on Gold Coast has been poor but I’d be looping him this week.
Jack Viney is fresh off a contract extension and a whopping 141 AFL Fantasy Points last weekend; his team is under fire, and I expect him to come out hard again.
Streamers
Conor Nash has been a bit of a headache for owners this season; however, he scored 124 AFL Fantasy Points against North Melbourne in Round 6 and is going at 105 from his last three against them.
Steele Sidebottom has the Friday night game and has averaged 90 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against Melbourne.
Heff mentioned Nathan Broad on the podcast this week; I agree with his call, defenders against Gold Coast score well and Broad is fresh off an 84 AFL Fantasy Point game.
Dyson Heppell has been locked into a retirement game, Gaff scored 95 AFL Fantasy Points in his final game last year and I back club legend Heppell to score 80+ this week.
This is a real smoky, so only for those brave or desperate coaches! Dan Houston missing this week will open the door for Ryan Burton to return to his defensive kick in role, he has scored 80 or more AFL Fantasy Points this season on three occasions.
