Round 4, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Errol Gulden is too good not to have a blinder against the West Coast Eagles. Gulden had 145 AFL Fantasy Points against Sydney when they met last year.

Adam Cerra has a really good record against his former teammates at Fremantle. He had 110 AFL Fantasy points against them when they last met and averages 108 against them.

Fresh off a contract extension and well rested Tom Liberatore is going HAM against a young Geelong midfield this week. Libba had 127 AFL Fantasy Points against Geelong last season.

Jack Sinclair has had an interrupted start to the season but should be ready to pop against an undermanned Richmon team. Sinclair pumped out 121 AFL Fantasy Points against the Tigers in 2023.

Chad Warner is due for a high-ceiling game and the West Coast Eagles match-up provides him that opportunity. Warner had 128 AFL Fantasy Points against Sydney last season.

Vice-Captain

It has been a quiet start by Clayton Oliver’s lofty standards, but the Thursday night game makes him a great VC option. Oliver has averaged 131 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Adelaide Crows.

Christian Petracca is the next Thursday night loop option coming up against Adelaide. Petracca has averaged 120 AFL Fantasy Points from his last few games against the Crows.

Lachie Neale has a Friday game against the second-worst team in the competition. Neale has averaged 116 AFL Fantasy Points against North Melbourne in their most recent matchups.

Darcy Parish is another Fantasy jet with the early game VC Loop. Parish has averaged 115 AFL Fantasy Points against Port Adelaide, and I predict after this week, he won’t be eligible for the article again.

Dan Houston scored 124 AFL Fantasy points against Essendon last season and has a recent average of 119 against them. Owners should put the VC on him and enjoy!

Streamers

Ed Langdon has averaged 108 AFL Fantasy Points against the Adelaide Crows in his last three games. With the early fixture, I can’t see why you wouldn’t look at a loop.

With ‘Stream Against Eagles’ play in full effect, I’d look to field Will Hayward this week who had 79 AFL Fantasy Points against the Eagles last season.

Charlie Cameron has the early game this week and is about due for a bag of goals. He had 86 AFL Fantasy Points and 4 goals against North Melbourne last year.

Tim Membrey has struggled to recapture his consistency this season, but his match-up this week against an injury-ravaged Richmond has me taking a streamer nibble at him.

Nathan Broad has a good average against St Kilda going at 86 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three head to heads, the only flag here is he could get a more lock-down defensive role.
