State League AFL Fantasy Scores – Week 5, 2025

Each week, we track the standout AFL Fantasy scorers in the state leagues to identify potential cash cows, role changes, and possible inclusions. With a state league bye across the VFL and SANFL this weekend, all eyes were on the WAFL. There were some big scores and intriguing role developments, especially where injuries or poor form could open the door for changes at AFL level.

VFL

Darragh Joyce took an incredible 18 marks for his 32 disposals, finishing with a huge 150 AFL Fantasy points. Deven Robertson was busy too, collecting 32 touches, seven clearances, and seven tackles for 125 points. He’s someone who could come in for the injured Kai Lohmann.

Sam Docherty played well, scoring 106 points, as Carlton recorded a thrilling four-point win over Geelong. Jaxon Binns (23 disposals, 10 marks) was busy and scored 107 points. Both are names to watch if any injury issues arise from the weekend. Marc Pittonet was dominant in the ruck with 11 disposals, 33 hitouts, five clearances and a goal, scoring 106 fantasy points, but with Harry McKay back and playing well, it’s unlikely he’ll come in.

Mason Cox scored 57 points and looks a strong chance to come in for Collingwood with Dan McStay injuring his knee.

Zak Johnson is pushing for an AFL debut after another prolific performance with 33 disposals and a goal, scoring 128 points. Saad El-Hawli also impressed, gathering 17 disposals and a goal for 71 points.

Ted Clohesy worked tirelessly for Geelong, finishing with 25 disposals, 13 tackles and eight clearances for 118 fantasy points.

Brayden Fiorini dominated yet again, finishing with 30 disposals, seven tackles and five goals for 170 points in Gold Coast’s 47-point win over Sydney. While he’s been putting up amazing numbers, it doesn’t necessarily translate to AFL Fantasy scoring at the top level unless he plays midfield, which seems unlikely. So he’s still probably not worth spending a waiver pick on.

Ned Moyle impressed with 19 disposals, five marks and two goals, scoring 100 points. He’s likely to be used only when Jarryd Witts needs a rest.

Harry Rowston had 22 disposals, six tackles and kicked two goals for 103 points. He’s a player to stash for the future as he looks set to be a part of GWS’s midfield.

Calsher Dear made his return for Box Hill, finishing with 11 disposals, four marks and a goal on managed minutes. He’s likely to come into the Hawks’ side soon but won’t have much fantasy impact.

Finn Maginness dominated with 38 disposals, 10 clearances and six tackles for 127 points. Impressive, but it’s more of a tip of the cap given it’s unlikely to translate at AFL level.

Bailey Laurie was huge for Casey with 32 touches, two goals, eight clearances and three tackles, scoring 109 points. He’s putting his hand up for AFL selection.

Taj Woewodin (106 points from 28 disposals and seven tackles), Oliver Sestan (121 points from 27 disposals and four tackles), and Jack Billings (117 points from 25 touches) were all busy too.

Josh Smillie put together another promising display for Richmond, scoring 83 points from 23 disposals. Keeper league coaches would be excited as he edges closer to a debut.

Hugh Boxshall continued to push his case with 24 disposals, 10 tackles and eight clearances for 110 points. He could debut soon, especially with Hugo Garcia potentially facing omission.

Arie Schoenmaker found plenty of it again with 29 disposals, scoring 104 points. While it’s impressive, it’s unclear if he’ll replicate that at AFL level anytime soon. However, with Wanganeen-Milera moving into the midfield last week, Schoenmaker could be a halfback option if they drop Garcia and don’t bring another midfielder in.

Angus Sheldrick had a solid outing with 30 disposals, six marks, four tackles and three clearances, finishing on 115 points. He may find more opportunity soon with Sydney struggling, although Callum Mills is due back in a week or two, which will hamper his chances.

Taylor Duryea tried hard in Footscray’s heavy loss, finishing with 111 points from 29 disposals and eight marks. However, the Bulldogs are unlikely to recall him.

Oskar Baker (94 points from 27 disposals), Harvey Gallagher (79 points from 25 disposals) and Anthony Scott (85 points from 24 disposals and six clearances) also worked hard but face stiff competition to break into a well-performing Bulldogs outfit.

SANFL

Sid Draper impressed with 28 disposals and eight clearances, finishing with 93 fantasy points. He continues to push his case for more AFL game time.

Sam Berry collected 26 disposals, five clearances and two goals for 104 points. He played last week and might be recalled soon, though he’s unlikely to score big if he’s only used as a sub.

Lachlan McAndrew had another strong game with 16 disposals, 37 hitouts and eight clearances for 99 points.

Ryan Burton got through unscathed in his return, scoring 59 points. He could replace Josh Sinn (concussion) in Port Adelaide’s AFL side. Rory Atkins also scored 94 points and could be another option to come in.

WAFL

Neil Erasmus continued his strong form with 30 disposals, nine tackles and 131 fantasy points. He’s keeping himself in the frame for a senior recall.

Liam Reidy dominated the ruck with 49 hitouts, 16 disposals and eight inside 50s for 106 points, but he’s unlikely to come in with Darcy performing well and Luke Jackson’s imminent return.

Clay Hall led the way for West Coast’s WAFL side with 25 disposals and a goal for 90 points. Tom Gross responded to his senior omission with 22 disposals and a goal, scoring 89 points. Both are always a chance to get called up given how poor the senior team is going, but with the Eagles trying players like Brady Hough and Jack Hutchinson in new midfield roles last week, it might not happen straight away.

Fantasy coaches should be keeping a close eye on state league performances for potential mid-season pick ups and dynasty gold.
