State League AFL Fantasy Scores – Week 8, 2025

Each week, we track the standout AFL Fantasy scorers in the state leagues to identify potential cash cows, role changes, and possible inclusions. There were some big scores and intriguing role developments, especially where injuries or poor form could open the door for changes at AFL level.

VFL

Callum Mills was the big name to return in the VFL this week. The Sydney captain is on the comeback trail from his preseason injury and managed 82 points from just one half of football. That tells you all you need to know—he looks set to return to Sydney’s senior side next week.

Sam Docherty continues to dominate in the VFL. He racked up 37 disposals, six marks, and two tackles for 133 points. He’s well and truly pressing for a recall.

Henry Hustwaite responded strongly at VFL level, collecting 28 disposals, six marks, and nine tackles for 123 points. With Jai Newcombe in a moon boot and in doubt for this weekend, Hustwaite could be a straight swap. Taylor Adams (110) and Ben Paton (102) also had solid outings for Sydney.

Tom Mitchell played a full game in the VFL, scoring 104 points from 13 tackles, 9 kicks, and 12 handballs. He’s likely to get another shot at AFL level, and could offer some value in your M7 slot in games where he avoids the sub vest. Worth checking your waivers.

George Stevens is banging the door down for an AFL debut. He had 31 disposals, 12 tackles, and 130 points. Ted Clohesy and Jhye Clark also went big, both posting fantasy tons for the Cats’ VFL side.

Connor Budarick top-scored for Gold Coast with 136 points. Leo Lombard made his return from injury, finishing with 15 disposals and five marks.

James Leake was massive for the Giants, racking up 39 disposals and six tackles for 129 points. Harry Rowston continued his strong midfield form, scoring 117. Nicholas Madden remains impressive in the ruck with 33 hitouts and 105 fantasy points, but with Kieren Briggs regaining form, an AFL debut seems unlikely for now.

Tyler Sonsie was dominant through the midfield for Richmond, piling up 36 disposals, seven tackles, and a goal for 146 fantasy points.

SANFL & WAFL

No SANFL or WAFL matches were played over the weekend due to the state representative game.

Fantasy coaches should be keeping a close eye on state league performances for potential mid-season pick ups and dynasty gold.
