State League Fantasy Scores: Week 1

Each week, we will bring you the top AFL listed performers from the SANFL, VFL and WAFL so you can see how players in your draft and keeper league teams are tracking.

This information will help you find the better fantasy scorers at the reserves level, and also judge if players are in line for a call up soon so you can grab them off the waiver wire.

Here are the top performers from each state league from the matches played of the weekemd.

Note: SANFL and WAFL played Round 1 of their respective leagues over the weekend. VFL matches start on April 16th, 2021.

SANFL

Sam Hayes was the best AFL listed fantasy performer from the weekend’s games. The Port Adelaide ruckman had 41 hit outs versus Norwood and scored 104 AFL Fantasy points. Jarrod Lienert was also a good performer for Port Adelaide, racking up 26 disposals (20 kicks, 6 handballs) for a score of 102 points. Owners of Jackson Hately would be pleased to see him getting a kick for the Crows Reserves over the weekend. Hately had 18 kicks and 6 handballs playing in the midfield and recorded an AFL Fantasy score of 98 points. Owners of Hately would be hoping he can gain the call up to the Crows AFL side sometime soon, but he might be waiting for a while with the way they’re performing.

WAFL

Nathan Vardy was the top scorer for West Coast in the WAFL, scoring 116 AFL Fantasy points. He had 35 hit-outs to go with his 15 disposals and 3 marks. However, West Coast easily accounted for Port Adelaide’s combination of Scott Lycett and Peter Ladhams at AFL level on the weekend, playing Nic Naitanui with Oscar Allen as back up. Expect this to continue next week, leaving Vardy in the twos. Rookie listed Zane Trew was one of the better performing midfielders for West Coast, scoring 102 AFL Fantasy points. With Luke Shuey getting injured, there might be an opportunity for him but you’d expect West Coast will continue to develop him in the WAFL for a while yet. Connor Blakely was the best performer at WAFL level for Fremantle, but with only 80 AFL Fantasy points next to his name, it’s nothing to get too excited about.
