State League Fantasy Scores: Week 2

Each week, we will bring you the top AFL listed performers from the SANFL, VFL and WAFL so you can see how players in your draft and keeper league teams are tracking.

This information will help you find the better fantasy scorers at the reserves level, and also judge if players are in line for a call up soon so you can grab them off the waiver wire.

Here are the top performers from each state league from the matches played over the weekend.

Note: VFL matches start on April 16th, 2021.

SANFL

Kieren Strachan was the top AFL listed fantasy scorer in the SANFL on the weekend. He scored 116 AFL Fantasy points on the back of 11 kicks, 4 handballs, 7 marks and 41 hitouts in the Crows’ win over West Adelaide. However, given he’s the Crows’ back up ruckman, we probably won’t see him in the senior side anytime soon with Reilly O’Brien finding form. While we’re talking about the Crows, Jackson Hately could be in line for a call up next week with another strong showing in the reserves. He had 26 disposals (11 kicks, 15 handballs) for an AFL Fantasy score of 94. Boyd Woodcock topped the scoring for Port Adelaide with 100 AFL Fantasy points in their game against Central Districts, and Sam Hayes backed up his big game last week with 88 points on the weekend. Hayes could be a chance to play if Port decide they want to drop Peter Ladhams and replace him with another ruckman, but they’re likely to restructure if they do go without Ladhams next week.

WAFL

The name on everyone’s lips will be Alex Witherden this week, with Shannon Hurn going down early in West Coast’s match against St Kilda on Saturday afternoon. Witherden had 21 kicks and 6 handballs against West Perth on the weeked for an AFL Fantasy score of 107 points. He’s a very good chance to play this weeekend and we’re excited to see him in action if he does. Brayden Ainsworth also scored well in the WAFL with 118 AFL Fantasy points, playing in the Eagles’ midfield. He’s also a chance if West Coast decide to try someone different to replace the likes of the injured Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo. Taylin Duman was the top scorer for Fremantle with 30 disposals (19 kicks, 11 handballs) in Peel Thunder’s huge win over East Perth. He scored 118 AFL Fantasy points, but will probably need to back this up to be considered in the seniors next week. Connor Blakely also had a good game, scoring 87 AFL Fantasy points.
