Round 10, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

This is the week to put the Captaincy on Hugh McCLuggage and watch the points roll in. McCluggage comes up against Richmond who leak points everywhere. If you own a Lions midfielder, Captain them!

Rory Laird has seen a dip in his scoring this year, but he has averaged 128 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against Collingwood, including 111 points from their last match-up.

St Kilda are another team who leaks points to opposition midfielders, which is why I am on Andrew Brayshaw this week. Brayshaw has averaged 146 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against St Kilda.

Luke Ryan is the next Fremantle player I am looking to Captain this week. He is in All-Australian form and scored 156 AFL Fantasy Points on St Kilda last time they met.

Last week reminded Christian Petracca owners what he is capable of and will do so again this week against the West Coast Eagles. Petracca has averaged 121 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Eagles.

Vice-Captain

Brodie Grundy is a massive watch this week against Carlton. Pittonet is under an injury cloud and Grundy is in form averaging 105 AFL Fantasy Points from his last 5 games.

Touk Miller has averaged 106 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Geelong and a whopping 120 from his last three at TIO Stadium.

Max Holmes is enjoying a breakout season averaging 96 AFL Fantasy Points for the season and 106 from his last three games.

I am all over Charlie Curnow this week against Sydney who are without their big, bodied stopper Tom McCartin. Curnow had 110 AFL Fantasy Points the last time he played at the SCG and has averaged 90 in his last three on the Swans.

Noah Anderson is having a career-best season averaging 108 AFL Fantasy Points. He’ll be fuming after copping a hard tag two weeks in a row, so I’m expecting a big game against an injury-ravaged Geelong.

Streamers

At the ripe old age of thirty-five, Travis Boak is still getting it done fresh off a 90 AFL Fantasy Point game. Even at his age Boak has run rings against the flat-footed Hawks midfield averaging 110 AFL Fantasy Points from their last three encounters.

Trent Rivers had 104 AFL Fantasy Points against West Coast when they last met and is currently having a career-best season.

I like Connor McKenna against Richmond this week; he takes a fair chunk of the kick-in duties, scored 88 AFL fantasy Points last time they met and has returned to a key distribution role off half-back.

Peter Wright has averaged 82 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against North Melbourne who are still without a legitimate key position defender.

I like the mobile Jeremy Finlayson this week who has had a good record on Hawthorn scoring 126 AFL Fantasy Points from their most recent encounter.
