Round 12, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Toby Nankervis comes up against an essentially ruckless Geelong outfit this weekend and shown a ceiling with his 130 AFL Fantasy Points against Rowan Marshall earlier in the year.

Jeremy Cameron has been out of form recently; but a game against Richmond is good for what ails the aging bodies. Cameron has averaged 94 AFL Fantasy points against Richmond of late and I believe that’s well under what he will score this week.

This week I am looking for a return to form by Rory Laird given he is up against a Hawthorn outfit giving up the second most points against to midfielders.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is averaging 112 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and should have an absolute day out against the West Coast Eagles.

The other Saint Kilda player I am liking this week is Jack Sinclair who comes into the West Coast game averaging 100 AFL Fantasy points from his last five games.

Vice-Captain

Bailey Dale is averaging 122 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games at Marvel Stadium and has returned to his role as primary distributor.

Jack Crisp makes my streamers again this week averaging 117 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and 93 from his last three against the Western Bulldogs.

Luke Beveridge has already flagged that Marcus Bontempelli will play for midfield minutes this week. The Bont has averaged 111 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Collingwood.

Patrick Cripps will need a big game if Carlton are to get the job done against Port Adelaide. Cripps has averaged 101 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against Port Adelaide.

Ollie Wines is in a rich vein of form, averaging 104 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games. This includes his sub effected 30-point game.

Streamers

Tom McDonald has benefitted from this absence of Lever with 79 AFL Fantasy Points last week. He has also averaged 91 against Fremantle in recent times.

I am looking at teams this week and hoping Hunter Clark is named; coming of a 31-disposal game in the VFL I can see him scoring 80+ AFL Fantasy Points against the Eagles if named.

St Kilda give up a lot of points to intercept defenders, which is why I like Tom Barrass this week. To, has averaged 86 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Saints.

With all the injuries at the local retirement village I am expecting Jack Bowes to move into the starting 22 and score well against the broken Richmond midfield.

Coming off 124 AFL Fantasy Point game and averaging 83 from his last five games makes Lachie Sholl impossible to bench against Hawthorn.
