Round 13, 2024: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Brodie Grundy has the ruckless Geelong match up this weekend and is set to go big. Grundy scored 119 AFL Fantasy Points in his last game and will be fresh off the bye.

Nic Newman is commanding the ball in defence for Carlton averaging 111 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and he scored 117 last time he played Essendon.

I am all over Luke Davies-Uniacke this week against the West Coast Eagles. The last time he played the eagles he smashed out 120 AFL Fantasy Points.

Touk Miller has the dream AFL Fantasy match up this week against St Kilda. Touk has averaged 109 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five against St Kilda.

The most in-form player of the last month Chad Warner is going to carve up a battered Geelong. Warner is averaging 110 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and scored 117 in his last at the SCG.

Vice-Captain

Rory Laird might be having a down season by his lofty standards, however with Matt Crouch sore and Richmond at home I see a big score coming. Laird scored 142 AFL Fantasy Points last time they wet Richmond.

Toby Nankervis is fresh off a monster 142 AFL Fantasy Point game and I’m backing him to go over 100 again this week against Adelaide on Thursday night.

Averaging 123 AFL Fantasy Pints from his last three games is enough for me to VC Bailey Dale this Friday night against the Brisbane Lions.

Lachie Neale has to get an absolute mountain of ball if Brisbane are to win this game. He responds to pressure and has averaged 112 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Western Bulldogs.

Tom Liberatore is set to return this week and will be chomping at the bit after having his career in the hands of the AFL Gods. Libba scored 119 AFL Fantasy Points last time he played the Lions.

Streamers

Alex Witherden has been an absolute headache this season, however with a game against North Melbourne I feel he is worth the punt, but it is not for the faint hearted.

Another one that is not for the faint hearted is Jy Simpkin against the West Coast Eagles. He has been hampered by injury this season but if he returns, as a forward he could give you an 80 AFL Fantasy point game.

This really does feel like a week of ‘punting’ but if Brayden Fiorini plays against St Kilda, then he could go bananas and score a brave coach 100 AFL Fantasy Points.

With so many injuries to key midfielders at Greater Western Sydney I’d like to stream both Callan Ward and Finn Callaghan. Both should see an increased role in the midfield and the scoring to match.

Max Michallaney is a huge watch for this weekend against Richmond. He had 12 Centre Bounce attendances in the second half on the weekend and looked cool, calm and composed.
