Round 10: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Tom Stewart has burnt me once this season, but I am going to give him one last opportunity. Stewart scored 157 AFL Fantasy Points against Fremantle last year and is averaging 99 from his last three games.

I’m always nervous in recommending Lachie Whitfield but the recent injury to Isaac Cumming could result in a score bump. Whitfield is averaging 108 AFL Fantasy points from his last three and has a strong record against St Kilda.

Rory Laird didn’t hit the ceiling score I expected last week; however, he has scored 100 AFL Fantasy points or more in his last five games.

The Western Bulldogs have injected Bailey Smith back into their Centre Bounce rotations, which automatically resulted in an increase in disposals. Smith has averaged 122 AFL Fantasy points from his last three against Adelaide.

Josh Dunkley has in recent times averaged 111 AFL Fantasy points against the Gold Coast Suns and should dominate them again this weekend.

Vice-Captain

This week’s game against Melbourne is a tough match up for Zak Butters but this kid doesn’t shy away from a contest. Butters is averaging 102 AFL Fantasy points from his last five games.

Jack Viney is averaging 103 AFL Fantasy points from his last five games and had a 104 on Port Adelaide when they met last season.

After a slow start to the season Chad Warner is turning it on, averaging 105 AFL Fantasy points from his last three games. North Melbourne have been decimated by injury, so I expect Warner to dominate.

Luke Parker is the other Swan that I think can have a scoring bump if Mills misses this week. Parker had 115 AFL Fantasy points against North Melbourne last season.

Picking a North player to loop is an absolute nightmare, but this week I expect Harry Sheezel to see a mountain of ball in defence. Sheezel has averaged 111 AFL Fantasy points from his last three games at Marvel.

Streamers

Robbie Fox demonstrated that he is able to score on his day, with two 100+ AFL Fantasy point games last season. I like him this week as a stream option against North Melbourne.

The Gold Coast Suns have consistently let Charlie Cameron get off the chain, making him an ideal streamer this week. Cameron has averaged 92 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against the Suns.

Jack Scrimshaw has been very disappointing this season, but anyone can score against the West Coast Eagles! Scrimshaw scored 99 AFL Fantasy points on the Eagles last season and is worth a stream this week.

Jake Waterman has had a couple of down weeks, but I am expecting him to bounce back against a mediocre Hawthorn. Waterman has averaged 74 AFL Fantasy points this season and the Hawks give up more points to tall forwards than any other team.

Connor Idun has shown scoring potential this season with scores of 96 and 103 AFL Fantasy points. This week he comes up against a ‘leaky’ St Kilda and is another who could benefit from the Cumming’s injury.
