Round 11: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

This weekend, Zach Merrett against the West Coast Eagles is an absolute no-brainer. I could rattle off stats, but I think the match-up says enough, the Eagles are deplorable.

But wait there’s more, Zac Butters is another brilliant captain option this week. Butters is averaging 126 AFL Fantasy points from his last three games and had 116 on Richmond the last time he matched up with them.

Port Adelaide does not have a competent ruck, so I’m saying owners should Captain Toby Nankervis this week. The Nank is averaging 110 AFL Fantasy points in an injury-interrupted season and scored 139 on Port previously.

With Josh Kelly missing through injury, I like Stephen Coniglio as a captain option this week. Coniglio is fresh off a score of 114 AFL Fantasy points and has returned to his best this season.

Jordan De Goey is my risk vs reward Captain option this week with his juicy North Melbourne match-up. The Kanagroos have been decimated by injury and don’t have a big body that can go with Jordey.

Vice-Captain

This week’s game against Carlton pits two desperate teams against each other, enter Luke Parker. Parker had 123 AFL Fantasy points against Carlton when they last met and he is a big game player.

Patrick Cripps is the next contested beast that I’d like to recommend as your VC this week. Cripps has averaged 101 AFL Fantasy points against Sydney from his last three and I expect him to get up for the big game.

I think Jack Steele has enough game time under his belt to return to premium status. Steele scored 107 AFL Fantasy points against the Hawks when they last met and will go big again.

Jack Sinclair is the other Saint that I am backing to go big for the second week in a row. Sinclair is coming off a 141 AFL Fantasy point game and has averaged 101 from his last three against the Hawks.

St Kilda gives up so many points to defenders, which makes James Sicily an amazing VC option this week. Sicily pumped out 125 AFL Fantasy points last week to remind owners of his credentials.

Streamers

Sam Durham is a coach killer and could take an opportunity this week to end Adam Simpson. Sam is coming off a 96 AFL Fantasy point game and should find plenty of ball at Optus Stadium.

I am still surprised that Liam Stocker isn’t starting in more teams at the moment. This week he comes up against Hawthorn and is fresh off a 93 AFL Fantasy point game.

Darcy Moore‘s recent form is too good to ignore, averaging 85 AFL Fantasy points from his last three. Moore pumped out a 134 on North Melbourne in 2022 as well.

Dyson Heppell has fallen off a cliff this season and most owners are benching him weekly. However, this week he comes up against the Eagles and should score 80 AFL Fantasy points just by taking the field.

Lachie Bramble is fresh off a 96 AFL point game and this week he has a fantasy-friendly matchup against St Kilda.

I’ve got Bramble on field this week over the likes of Chayce, Hurn and Jordan Clark. Every time he has had a proper gane he has scored well.
