Round 12: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Jayden Short is averaging 105 AFL Fantasy points from his last three games and has averaged 114 against Greater Western Sydney from there last three match ups.

Toby Greene has had a resurgence this season, coming off a big 120 AFL Fantasy points in Round 11. Green has averaged 94 against Richmond in recent seasons and should beat up on an undermanned Tigers outfit.

I have absolutely loved watching Tom Liberatore this season. Libba is averaging 102 AFL Fantasy points and has averaged 107 against Geelong in his past three.

The bye rounds always have me reaching for an outsider, this week it’s Mason Redman. Redman scored 139 AFL Fantasy points against North Melbourne last year and will surely go over 100 this week.

Jordan De Goey makes my article for the second week in a row, based on recent form and match up. De Goey had 127 AFL Fantasy points on the West Coast Eagles last year and will do it again.

Vice-Captain

This Friday night game will give Adam Cerra another opportunity to step up as an inside mid, with the absence of George Hewett. Cerra had 102 AFL Fantasy points on Melbourne last season and presents as a strong VC option.

Angus Brayshaw didn’t see a bump in his Centre Bounce Attendances in the absence of Oliver, however he did float up to the contest more. Brayshaw is only averaging in the 70’s this season but he scored 123 AFL Fantasy points on Carlton last time they met.

Zak Butters has had four 100+ AFL Fantasy point games in a row and is building toward ‘uber premium’ status. Butters scored 137 against Hawthorn last season and is a lock to go 100 again.

Will Day is averaging 96 AFL Fantasy points this season and has quickly become the best midfielder at Hawthorn. Port Adelaide are a tough team to score on, but with no Sicily I think Day is the best Hawk option.

The next best Port Adelaide VC option this week is Connor Rozee, who scored 123 AFL Fantasy points in his last game at Adelaide Oval.

Streamers

Brayden Maynard has struggled for consistent scoring this season, but a game against the West Coast Eagles will have him licking his lips. Maynard had 88 AFL Fantasy points on the Eagles last year and is a strong stream option.

I also like Nick Hind against North Melbourne this weekend. Hind has been in and out of the side but if he is named, he’s a good stream. Hind has averaged 89 AFL Fantasy points from his last three on the Roos and knows how to find the ball.

Zach Guthrie has averaged 85 AFL Fantasy points from his last three games against the Western Bulldogs. The Dogs do give up points to intercepting defenders which could benefit Guthrie this week.

Willem Drew is averaging 84 AFL Fantasy points from his last three against Hawthorn, which included a 95 when they met last season.

Essendon don’t have an obvious match up for Cam Zurhaar this week. Zurhaar had 88 AFL Fantasy points against Essendon when they last met and should score a minimum 75.
