Round 15: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

Death, Taxes and Captain Errol Gulden against a deplorable West Coast Eagles outfit. Despite being underwhelming in recent weeks, Gulden is averaging 110 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five matches.

This is a big call, but I would captain Mason Redman against Fremantle this weekend. Redman has averaged 102 AFL Fantasy points from his last five and Fremantle give up a stack of points.

Tom Mitchell has been on fire averaging 119 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three matches with 121 in his game before the bye.

If Sean Darcy is named this week against Essendon, then you really can consider him as your Captain. Essendon have given up points to rucks and Darcy had 100 AFL Fantasy points on them previously this year.

Luke Parker came back last week with a mammoth 126 AFL Fantasy Points and this week he has that dream West Coast Eagles match-up.

Vice-Captain

Surely Jeremy Cameron can bounce back this Thursday night against Melbourne. He loves playing at home and had 90 AFL Fantasy Points in his last game at GMHBA.

Jack Viney is averaging 112 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games coming off a whopping 135 the last time he played.

I’m backing that this week we will see Jack Steele bounce back to form, having averaged 113 AFL Fantasy points from his last three against Brisbane. However, the injury (whatever that may be) might hold him back.

Hugh McCLuggage should benefit from the match-up against St Kilda this week. The Saints give up a lot of outside ball and Hugh has averaged 97 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against St Kilda.

I am happy to recommend Brad Crouch as a Captain this week against Brisbane. Crouch had 108 AFL Fantasy Points against the Lions when they last met and is averaging 115 from his last three.

Streamers

Josh Battle had 84 AFL Fantasy points against Brisbane when they last met and is coming off a respectable 69 last week.

I’d play Brayden Fiorini against Hawthorn this weekend. Fiorini had 100 on the Hawks last time they met.

Blake Hardwick is coming off a 91 AFL Fantasy point game and has averaged a solid 84 from his last three games.

Justin McInerney is in a rich vein of form with an average of 83 AFL Fantasy points from his last three. He also had an 88 on West Coast last time they matched up.

Tom Papley is the next Swan that I’d like to stream against West Coast this weekend. Papley has averaged 82 AFL Fantasy points from his last three against the Eagles.
