Round 20: Captains and Streamers – AFL Fantasy

Each week, we rely on our AFL Fantasy Projections (available to members of The Keeper League) to identify some of the best captain options for your team.

While there are always some obvious captain options, we try to dig a little deeper to find less popular options due to the widespread nature of players in keeper leagues. However, if you have Uber premium players, please don’t take this article as advice not to put the captaincy on them.

In addition to the top captain options, we’ll also look at some streamer options who may not be automatic selections in your side but have a history of performing well against their opponents. These options are worth considering if you’re looking for a differential advantage in your matchup.

Captains

With the dream AFL Fantasy match up look for Jack Sinclair to dominate Hawthorn this week. He has seen a boost in his midfield minutes and is fresh off 112 AFL Fantasy Points against North Melbourne.

Luke Davies-Uniacke is comfortably the best midfielder at North Melbourne and is averaging 121 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games. Watch him to beat up on the West Coast Eagles.

Harry Sheezel has moved back to the half-back line for North Melbourne, and he put up 116 AFL Fantasy Points against St Kilda. There will be plenty of ball going around this week against West Coast.

The Western Bulldogs are always a tough team to score against, but Lachie Whitfield has averaged 116 AFL Fantasy Points against them from his last three matchups.

Brad Crouch has averaged 120 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games against Hawthorn and is still averaging 103 points this season despite the occasional lean week.

Vice-Captain

If Adam Cerra is named this week against Collingwood, then I’d be having a look at him as a VC Loop. Cerra had 119 AFL Fantasy Points against Collingwood earlier this year.

Tom Mitchell does not have two bad weeks in a row, put the VC on him and watch him come out firing. Mitchell has averaged 102 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Blues.

Luke Ryan is having a truly magnificent year, and should be in All-Australian consideration. He is averaging 100 AFL Fantasy Points and is an amazing VC option this week.

Mitch Duncan is averaging 102 AFL Fantasy Points from his last five games and 96 from his last five against Fremantle.

Forwards are always a risk versus reward option for coaches, but with the early game, I’d take a look at Charlie Curnow. He is coming off a 146 AFL Fantasy Point game and scored 102 against Collingwood previously this season.

Streamers

If Jack Billings is named this week, then owners should field him against Hawthorn. Billings has averaged 103 AFL Fantasy Points against them in his last three games against them.

Whilst small forwards can be a bit hit-and-miss, I would look to field Tom Papley this week against Essendon. Papley had 88 AFL Fantasy Points against Essendon the last time they played and has averaged 92 from their last three meetings.

Jack Scrimshaw comes up against St Kilda this week; a team that leaks points to half-back flankers. Scrimshaw has averaged 83 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three against the Saints.

Jack Bowes is averaging 86 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games and comes up against a Fremantle team that gives up a mountain of points to defenders.

I like the look of Aidan Corr this week against the West Coast Eagles. Corr looks to have taken some of Jack Ziebell’s role and is averaging 81 AFL Fantasy Points from his last three games.
