State League AFL Fantasy Scores – Week 2, 2023

  • Avatar photo

SANFL, WAFL and VFL fantasy scores are a must-have resource during the fantasy season, whether you’re into AFL Fantasy classic, draft, or keeper leagues. AFL-listed players that dominate the reserves competitions generally are the first in line to fill a need at the elite level, should a player get injured or fall out of form. The closer we monitor these performances, the faster we can get on the waiver wire and snap them up!

Below are the top scorers of the week that you should be paying attention to…

VFL

Plenty was happening on Thursday night and two Lions could be back in the fold for an AFL recall with Deven Robertson (122) and Jarryd Lyons (122) impressing in the VFL. Robertson kicked 1 goal, found 23 touches and had 12 tackles while Lyons had a game-high 33 touches and 7 tackles. Lions youngster Harry Sharp (111) also kicked 1 goal and had 23 touches. For the Dogs, Sam Darcy (103) kicked 3 first-quarter goals, and had 18 touches and 10 hitouts; showing he’s too good for this level. Also playing well for the Dogs was Rhylee West (88) with 3 goals and Toby McLean (83) with 21 touches.

Finlay Macrae (118) continued his excellent VFL form with 2 goals and 25 touches, as did Trent Bianco (112) who picked up 29 touches. Promising draftee Ed Allen (108) slotted a goal and had 24 disposals while Josh Carmichael (71) backed up after coming on as the sub on Friday night with 18 touches and a goal. Possible Darcy Cameron replacement, Oscar Steene (41) had 17 hitouts and kicked a major.

My boy Josh Fahey (171) surely makes his AFL debut next week after a lazy 43-disposal game against the Blues. With 34 kicks and 9 handballs, the youngster put up a kick-to-handball ratio all Fantasy coaches will love. Alex Cincotta (112) led the way for the Blues with 35 disposals while Brodie Kemp (113) had 25 touches and kicked a goal.

It was a positive sign for Angus Sheldrick (106) owners with the second-year Swan picking up 34 touches against Dees. The Brother of Chad, Corey Warner (100) also had a good game with 23 disposals. Adam Tomlinson (142) was a rock in defence for the Demons taking 13 marks and collecting 33 touches. Tom McDonald (94) also responded after his axing kicking 2 goals.

It was promising signs for the future of the Gold Coast ruck department with Ned Moyle (120) dominating in the middle with 37 hitouts, 21 touches and a goal. The usual suspects at VFL level all performed well with Brayden Fiorini (117), Rory Atkins (117), Charlie Constable (104) and Jeremy Sharp (102) all finding plenty of footy. Brandon Parfitt (93) and Oli Dempsey (81) were the standouts for the Cats in their big loss to the Suns.

Around the grounds, an AFL debut could be beckoning for George Wardlaw (95) who had 24 touches, 6 tackles and 6 clearances, while Aaron Hall (85) had 27 touches. Unlucky to miss out on an AFL game on the weekend was Tyler Sonsie (110) but he put his best foot forward collecting 31 disposals. Jack Bytel (126) should also find his way back into the Saints lineup after 34 touches and 2 goals for the Dragons against the Bombers.

SANFL

Harry Schoenberg (132) put on a clinic in the SANFL Showdown collecting 34 disposals and kicking 3 goals in the Crows’ big win over the Power. Jackson Hately (112) was solid with 27 touches and a goal while Kieran Strachan (111) had 26 hitouts and 18 touches in the win. Forgotten Crow Matt Crouch (89) had 30 disposals, but 19 were handballs. Josh Sinn (93) was the standout for the Power with 19 touches so an AFL recall could be close for the second-year player.
