State League AFL Fantasy Scores – Week 3, 2023

  • Avatar photo

SANFL, WAFL and VFL fantasy scores are a must-have resource during the fantasy season, whether you’re into AFL Fantasy classic, draft, or keeper leagues. AFL-listed players that dominate the reserves competitions generally are the first in line to fill a need at the elite level, should a player get injured or fall out of form. The closer we monitor these performances, the faster we can get on the waiver wire and snap them up!

Below are the top scorers of the week that you should be paying attention to…

VFL

He was named as an emergency this week and Josh Fahey (133) continues to bang the door down for an AFL debut. The young gun collected 37 touches for the Giants in their big win. Kieren Briggs (118) was instrumental in the ruck with 27 hitouts and 25 touches. The ‘Milk Man’ Jason Gillbee (101) had his best game of the season with 24 touches and a goal, while Xavier O’Halloran (86) had 25 and a goal returning from injury.

Does an AFL return beckon for Jarryd Lyons (142)? The midfielder had his second big game in a row registering 40 touches and a goal. He looks to be back to his best after groin surgery in the off-season. Beast Mode was activated for Rhys Mathieson (129) with a game high 42 disposals, while Noah Answerth (119) had 31 touches and kicked a goal. Darcy Fort had a big game in the ruck with 34 hitouts and he also kicked three goals. For the Pies, Finlay Macrae (92) was one of their better players with a goal and 28 touches.

Brandon Ellis (54) made his return from injury through the VFL for the Suns on Sunday. It was the usual suspects in their win over Sandringham with Conor Blakely (119), Charlie Constable (112) and James Tsitas (110) all finding plenty of footy. Bodhi Uwland (98) responded well after his axing the other week, while Tom Highmore (104) was one of the best for the Zebras.

Around the grounds, Toby McLean (171) put in a monster game for the Dogs with 47 touches, 9 tackles and 7 marks. Brodie Kemp (132) and Paddy Dow (122) both had an equal game-high 32 for the Blues and Bailey Laurie (127) had 35 touches and a goal for Casey.

A return to the AFL side must be super close for Ben Hobbs (117) who had another great game with 27 touches and a goal, while Will Snelling (121) kicked two goals and had 25 disposals. Nick Hind (78) and Massimo D’Ambrosio (66) also found a bit of footy off half-back.

SANFL

It was a Good Friday fill-up for Matt Crouch (146) and Jackson Hately (143) who helped themselves to 37 and 36 disposals respectively, with Hately even bobbing up for a goal. Kieran Strachan (135) was utterly dominant in the middle with 47 hitouts and 22 touches. Good signs for Tyler Brown (97) and Zac Taylor (86) who also found plenty of football in the Crows win.

Riley Bonner (104) found some touch at SANFL level picking up 25 touches and a goal, while Trent Dumont (115) was a warrior laying 10 tackles and accumulating 22 disposals. Mitch Georgiades (57) kicked three goals while Sam Hayes (71) and Dante Visentini (84) shared ruck duties throughout the day.

WAFL

In a depleted side due to injuries, Zane Trew (109) led the way in the middle for the Eagles with 26 touches. Isaiah Winder (89) picked up 22 touches and finished with a goal, as did Xavier O’Neill (83).

Will Brodie (122) absolutely dominated in the middle for Peel Thunder, winning 37 touches and laying 7 tackles. He’ll firmly be in line for a recall next week. Karl Worner (90) was also prolific for the Thunder with 27 touches while Neil Erasmus (104) had 18 touches and kicked two goals.
