State League AFL Fantasy Scores – Week 9, 2023

  • Avatar photo

SANFL, WAFL and VFL fantasy scores are a must-have resource during the fantasy season, whether you’re into AFL Fantasy classic, draft, or keeper leagues. AFL-listed players that dominate the reserves competitions generally are the first in line to fill a need at the elite level, should a player get injured or fall out of form. The closer we monitor these performances, the faster we can get on the waiver wire and snap them up!

Below are the top scorers of the week that you should be paying attention to…

VFL

Despite a dominant performance from Nick Bryan (134) in the ruck, the Bombers couldn’t quite get over the line against the Tigers. Bryan had 35 hitouts, 10 marks and 24 disposals in a near best on ground performance. Noah Cumberland (105) booted four goals for the Tigers while Tyler Sonsie (100) had a game high 28 disposals. Sam Banks (86) put in an eye-catching display as well with 19 touches and a goal.

Charlie Lazzaro (124) continued his good run of VFL form for the Roos with a game high 33 disposals and a goal. Tarryn Thomas (99) also played another good game with 26 touches and a goal. The experienced Ben Cunnington (95) also found plenty of footy with 32 touches and a goal. Adam Tomlinson (101) was good in defence for the Demons taking 10 marks and picking up 24 disposals while James Jordon (96) backed up from being sub on Friday night to help himself to 27 touches.

Absolutely no surprise to see both Sam Flanders (138) and Charlie Constable (130) among the major ball winners for the Suns. Flanders had 36 disposals while Constable kicked a goal to go with his 31 disposals. Ned Moyle (111) was instrumental in the ruck once again with 38 hitouts and a goal.

Jarryd Lyons (148) had the ball on a string collecting 44 touches and a goal as the Lions smashed Coburg. Jaspa Fletcher (131) had his best game at VFL level with two goals and 27 touches, while Kai Lohmann (130) had a day out, kicking seven goals.  As usual, Rhys Mathison (123) and Deven Robertson (104) were among the major ball winners with 35 and 38 disposals respectively.

If Adam Kingsley doesn’t give Josh Fahey (163) an AFL debut this weekend, there is something seriously wrong. Fahey had another day out at VFL level with 43 touches and 14 marks. Matt Flynn (132) responded to being dropped with 32 hitouts, 21 disposals and two goals, while Harry Rowston (124) had a great game with 27 disposals. Jack Bytel (106) led the way for the Dragons with 36 touches while Marcus Winghager (91) had 25 disposals.

Tom DeKoning (135) looks ready for an AFL recall after a big game in the VFL. He had 24 touches and 34 hitouts. Paddy Dow (122) had 41 disposals, while Jaxon Binns (108) collected 30 and Brodie Kemp (92) was solid again with 23 touches.

Around the grounds, young Hawk Henry Hustwaite (102) put his name in the selection frame after a 26 disposal outing against Southport and ‘Brother of Chad,’ Corey Warner (102) had 26 disposals and kicked a goal.
